Tantra is any "system of observances" regarding the vision of man and the cosmos, where the correspondences between a person's inner world and macrocosmic reality play an essential role. Another definition, more common among observers and non-practitioners, is a "set of mechanistic rituals, completely omitting the ideological aspect." Oriental massage is the quieting of the nature of the mind. It is defined as a combination of texts, techniques, rituals, monastic practices, meditation, yoga, and ideology.
“The range of topics covered is considerable. They deal with the creation and history of the world; the names and functions of a wide variety of male and female deities and other higher beings; types of ritual worship (especially of Goddesses); magic, sorcery, and divination; esoteric “physiology” (the mapping of the subtle or psychic body); the awakening of the mysterious serpent power (kundalini-shakti); techniques of body and mind purification; the nature of enlightenment; and not least, sacred sexuality.” Hindu puja, temples, and iconography show influence of this kind. These texts contain representations of “the body in philosophy, ritual, and art,” which are linked to “body techniques, methods, or technologies developed within Eastern traditions aimed at transforming the body and the self.”
Vijñāna-bhairava-tantra The word vijñāna refers to your consciousness, the aspect of your being that is present in all experiences from the subjective, first-person point of view, of course.
I feel like Bhairava!!! When Bhairava is understood, anthropomorphically, as a specific deity among other deities, he is depicted with fangs, completely naked, adorned only with a live snake as a belt. He wanders around disguised as a naked beggar, eats and drinks from a bowl made from a human skull, and is accompanied by a dog. In the West, a dog is "man's best friend," but in traditional India, a dog is a kind of impure and marginalized creature that Bhairava befriends because he himself is a marginal and liminal figure who stands outside the norms of society and challenges in various ways with transgressive ideas and practices.
We have to reach Śiva through Śakti, and it’s easier to access the intensity of Śakti, whether it’s in an intense sexual experience or in an experience of merging the sensory fields—being hyper-focused on the sensual environment and then merging those sensory fields into oneness. The intensity of that experience, if you know how to access it properly, takes you directly to spacious, open, pure presence, aliveness, and beingness, and that’s Bhairava united with Bhairavī. There are many other examples, even some that seem silly, like: “Walking around and around in the middle of a field until you get dizzy, and then, at a certain moment, you just spontaneously fall down and look up at the sky.” In this massage, accompanied by a strong intention of love and “with some other elements,” I will guide all of you on a very interesting path…
Bhairava means Consciousness: specifically, expanded, open, empty, pure, and intensified consciousness. We see the word Bhairava used this way again and again in the text, not referring to a mythological being but to this spacious, open, transparent consciousness, which we might also call radiant emptiness. Bhairava also refers to the experience of that non-particularized open consciousness that actually pervades everything and constitutes the very ground of being. Bhairava is not seen as a deity among other deities, a member of a polytheistic pantheon, but rather represents this fundamental Consciousness; and Bhairavī is his consort, his other half. Bhairavī is the same word as Bhairava but feminine. So what does Bhairavī mean here? Well, it's pūrṇa-bharitā, the state of total wholeness, the overflowing fullness that is an intensification of pure being/presence. It is when that open, spacious, pure Consciousness of Bhairava intensifies or has a quality of intense immediacy and a quality of fullness, filled to overflowing, permeated by the innate bliss of one's true nature. If Bhairava is the pure emptiness of spacious consciousness, Bhairavī is its fullness.
THE KUNDALINI
A word that currently describes whatever people like best. There are people who believe they do have the bodily experience, and therefore, they are awakening it. Traditionally, it is said that Kundalini means "the coiled one" and refers to an "energy" that is spiraled at the base of the spine, the root chakra. Kundalini is an Eastern teaching that later spread to other spiritual currents that have used the term. We will look at some things that overturn current conceptions. According to Siddha-yogeśvarī-mata, she is the womb of the universe, the source of the world, the Goddess of it. In the Sārdhatriśati of Kālottara (700 AD), Kundalini is found in the heart and is defined as "a sprout of flame." The classical text speaks of two Kundalinis: one descending from the crown chakra to the heart, and another ascending from the base, which is associated with inner energy. When the two meet, they form a Kundalini, which produces awakening. In the classical style, Kundalini was not defined as coiled or inactive energy. The great tantric master Abhinavagupta said there were three kundalinis: upper, central, and lower: "Because of the descent of the higher power, the contraction of the lower power, and the awakening of the central power, supreme joy arises."
Christopher Wallis explains this last point: "You are finally fully alive. You reach a vitality so vibrant, so vivid, so complete, that your previous life seems like something like sleepwalking." To conclude, I quote Ramana Maharashi, the great Advaita master, who details something very important:
"Kundalini is only another name for Atma or Self or Sakti. We speak of it as being within the body because we conceive ourselves to be limited by this body. But in reality it is both within and without, and is non-different from the Self or the sakti of the Self. Although the yogi may have his methods of breath control for this purpose, the method of the jnani is only that of enquiry. When by this method the mind merges in the Self, sakti or Kundalini, which is not separate from the Self, arises automatically.”
Finally, my Dervish teacher explained similar things to me, and she had never read any of these authors, but had received their teachings in her Sufi community. Kundalini is the Absolute itself and has a fractal in the human body. Since we conceive of ourselves this way with a physical body, the explanations are given in the way we all know: the column, the spiral, the ascension of energy, etc. However, her vision coincides quite well with this: she is the Divine Mother of the world, she is within us and around us, she is the true Self. Whether through breathing exercises, self-inquiry, or the famous "realization," everything points toward the recognition of that undivided consciousness that we are.
Kundalini Solar Plexus The massage is performed topless, on a mat. This massage is full-body, including the genitals. The goal of the massage is not necessarily to achieve an orgasm; that's an accident, but if it happens, there's no problem. The therapist decides on the physical contact between herself and the recipient.
